Closer Every Year is a fanlisting for the Travis album The Man Who approved by TFL.org. The name comes from a line in the second track "The Fear":

But here
Closer every year
So near
The fear is coming clear
My dear
The fear is here

_The Man Who

The Man Who is Travis's third album. The title came from the name of the book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks. It was given such a title because the band had shown dramatic changes in their style of music as if they had picked up something wrong, like the patient mentioned in that book.

Like its title, The Man Who was totally different from the band's first album Good Feeling, which had made them known as some big boys. The album showed their growth in style and music. The band tasted their first sweet success as singles like "Writing to Reach You" and "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" became national hits. They continued with this mature and soft style in the succeeding album, The Invisible Band, which gained a bigger success in sales.

The Man Who was the album in which Travis found their path musically and commercially, with a number of classics the fans would always remember.
